Blue Oak Education was established in 2014 and currently has offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Michigan. Blue Oak has raised more than 2 million USD from well-known education investors and the Ping’an Group, one of Asia’s largest banking and insurance companies. Blue Oak is considered one of the Top Social Enterprises in Asia by NPI and the JP Morgan Foundation.
Founder
Mr. Richard Weiqi Zhang was one of the four undergraduates admitted by Harvard University from China in 2006. Prior to founding Blue Oak, he worked as a Research Associate at Harvard Business School, where he published nearly ten Harvard Business Case Studies. Shanghai Hong Qiao Int'l School
Shanghai Hong Qiao International School is a K-12 international school in downtown Shanghai, offering both AP and IB curricula. Blue Oak, along with our U.K. partner The Bohunt School, operates the school’s upper school program.
Mutiara Int‘l Grammar School
Mutiara International Grammar School has partnered with Blue Oak to offer a premium IB experience for top students in Kuala Lumpur, bringing Blue Oak's esteemed International Academy program from Michigan to the region.
Harkness in Ho Chi Minh City
Harkness aspires to redefine international education in Vietnam, with a mission to nurture each student's full potential. By fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong cultural identity, it prepares students to become global leaders.
Social Impact
We support all good causes that make our world a better place.
Through media coverage, volunteer work, and donations, we have been supporting the following education NGOs: Clover Youth, Star and Rain Institute, PEER, Sunshine Library, and Dandangzhe Foundation. Our founder and CEO Mr. Zhang is an active volunteer for the Harvard Alumni Association, serving as a Regional Director at Harvard Alumni for Education.
In 2020, when COVID severely affected the U.S. healthcare system., Mr. Zhang and Blue Oak organized campaigns to send more than 10,000 masks to healthcare workers in the U.S., an effort covered by the New York Times (read the full report).
